Elyria Public Library System converted a single-story credit union, with a sizeable addition, into a new library.
Electrical design was sensitive to reusing the existing service and power effectively. Technology systems include remote servers and faster connections and are fully connected to the EPLS network. An IT room houses the new network switches and limits access to security, cameras and other computer needs. A new conference area, meeting room, and food prep space have MEPT systems designed for independent use. Additional amenities include a gaming area, business center, and reading area.
The initial MEPT evaluation of the credit union was a key decision factor in selecting the site and assessing the appropriate use of the space, while also capitalizing on the existing plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
