Inside the Tomsich Pathology Laboratories Building, caregivers
process more than 20 million tests every year, for hospitals across the
U.S. and internationally. The facility houses central processing, microbiology, molecular pathology, immunology and special chemistry laboratories.

It was designed from the lab bench outward, with Building Information Modeling (BIM) used to assist in the design process - a first of its kind for Cleveland Clinic. The concept focused on developing an ideal module for the lab benches and its application to other design considerations. The formal composition was developed by programmatic groupings: laboratory areas, administration, and support spaces.

Robust MEPT systems support caregivers’ work - from laboratory gas to fume hood exhaust to emergency power.
