Karpinski Engineering Welcomes New Director of Civil Engineering

Oct 02, 2018

Christopher Bednar, PE, has joined Karpinski Engineering as Director of Civil Engineering. Chris will lead the firm’s civil engineering team, working with clients and delivering projects.

“We’re excited to have Chris on the team,” said Brian David, PE, LEED AP, Principal and Director of Engineering. “He brings the experience and passion to help our civil engineering department grow.”

Karpinski Engineering began to offer civil engineering services a number of years ago as part of the firm’s strategic plan. At the time, the firm focused on site development, which was most closely related to the firm’s core MEPT engineering services.

“Now, the time is right to expand into other civil design sectors, such as municipal utility and roadway design,” Brian said. “Chris’s skills and experience round out the department’s capabilities.”

Chris brings 20+ years in the A/E/C industry. He has provided civil design for a number of high-profile projects in Northeast Ohio. Chris has worked with both public and private clients, and he has led municipal infrastructure and site development projects. His portfolio includes site planning and design for commercial, public sector, residential, and K-12 clients; public roadway improvements; and public water main, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer projects.

Chris will lead a team of four civil engineers.

William E. Dunagan, PE, serves as Senior Project Manager. He focuses on site development projects, providing technical leadership and design.

Chris Scigliano and Kyle Zellmer, the department’s other two team members, have both earned their master’s degrees in civil engineering and are on the path to earning their professional engineering licenses.

“I’m excited about the talent we have in this department,” Chris said. “Bill has been around the block and seen everything. Chris and Kyle are ahead of the curve when it comes to their knowledge of the industry.”

He is also excited about the department’s future.

“My vision is for Karpinski Engineering to become as well known for civil engineering as it is for MEP engineering.”
