Karpinski Engineering has promoted two engineers, Sarah Terborg, PE, LEED AP and Stephen Lieber, PE, LEED AP to Associate. Working alongside the firm’s principals, Associates implement the firm’s strategic vision and work closely with clients to deliver successful projects.

“Sarah and Steve both demonstrate a commitment to our core company values,” said Karpinski President Jim Cicero, PE, LEED AP. “They support our clients by communicating and coordinating with teams to successfully deliver projects that meet or exceed expectations. Their dedication to delivering exceptional service is recognized by the firm’s leaders, employees, and clients alike.”

Sarah Terborg started her career at Karpinski’s Cleveland office in 2001 as a mechanical engineer. She briefly left Karpinski but returned in 2007 after a fateful call to her former mentor Principal Frank Eisenhower PE, LEED AP. At the time of her call, Eisenhower was opening Karpinski’s Columbus office and enthusiastically answered the phone by asking, “When can you start?”

Sarah specializes in designing mechanical systems for healthcare and higher education clients in and around Columbus.

“We have clients that only want to work with Sarah,” said Eisenhower. “She really knows what clients want even before they say it. And Sarah’s commitment to success is also acknowledged by her fellow engineers. Sarah truly wants her project teams to succeed.”

Terborg considers herself fortunate to work for a company that places so much value on the growth and development of employees. Her portfolio of work demonstrates a breadth of engineering experience working with some of the firm’s notable clients, including the Cleveland Museum of Art and The Ohio State University.

Terborg earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton. She then attended the University of Arizona where she received a Master of Business Administration degree. She is also a member ASHRAE.

Stephen Lieber joined Karpinski in 2018 as a mechanical project engineer in the Cleveland office. Lieber specializes in healthcare engineering. He has contributed his diverse experience to designing HVAC and plumbing systems for healthcare facilities and buildings.

“Steve brings a unique perspective when approaching projects thanks to his experience working as both a dedicated consulting engineer and an engineer for a design-build contracting group on new and existing construction projects,” said Principal Matt Morgan PE, LEED AP BD+C. “He is regularly recognized by clients for his ability to advocate for doing things right, while hitting major project milestones and achieving desired outcomes.”

Lieber also demonstrates his high standard of excellence within the firm as a confident leader of internal project teams and as a trusted mentor to his fellow engineers. Having the opportunity to experience a variety of different work environments, Lieber is extremely grateful for the special culture and fit he has found at Karpinski.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona. Like Terborg, Lieber is also a member of ASHRAE.

“Sarah and Steve both demonstrate a commitment to our core company values. They support our clients by communicating and coordinating with teams to successfully deliver projects that meet or exceed expectations.”
