Ambulatory surgical center provides specialty care
Berkeley Medical Center transformed an existing building shell into an ambulatory surgical center focused on GI procedures and endoscopies. The new surgery center allowed Berkeley Medical Center to move less intensive procedures out of the main hospital and into an outpatient setting. It includes 4 operating rooms, supported by 4 pre-op rooms, 8 PACU rooms, and sterile processing, as well as offices, reception, and a waiting area.
The Center is attached to a medical office building, and it was originally designed for medical offices. As a result, the engineering team designed entirely new systems to support the new space functions. Major systems include HVAC, medical gas, emergency power, normal power, LED lighting, fire alarm, and nurse call.
