Oct 08, 2019
Karpinski Engineering announces two promotions: Jessica Hanes, MBA, has been named Director of Human Resources, and Alex Plum has been promoted to Mechanical Project Engineer.
Jessica Hanes, MBA, has been promoted to Director of Human Resources.
In this role, she will be the go-to person for human resources, from onboarding to benefits to company culture. Hanes has been part of the Karpinski team since 2014, supporting both human resources and finance. She will continue to serve as Senior Accountant.
“Jessica truly cares about Karpinski Engineering and our staff,” said Principal Brian David, PE. “As Director of Human Resources, she will be an advocate they can turn to for both advice and routine assistance in HR matters.”
Hanes brings a robust professional background to her role. She has been an entrepreneur, business owner, and educator. Her experience encompasses human resources, finance, customer service, and sales.
She is also an active philanthropist and volunteer, both in and out of the office. She has fostered community engagement at Karpinski through initiatives including blood drives, an annual Toys for Tots drive, and volunteer opportunities at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
Hanes earned her MBA from Lake Erie College and her B.S. in Education from Baldwin Wallace University. She is a member of SHRM, the Rotary Club of Cleveland, and WIN Cleveland, as well as part of the Woman of Power Conference team.
Alex Plum has been promoted to Mechanical Project Engineer.
Plum started his career at Karpinski with a total immersion into the industry, joining senior engineers for fieldwork as early as two in the morning.
“From the beginning, Alex has asked a lot of really good questions,” said Katie Lee, PE, a senior mechanical project engineer and Plum’s mentor. “He wants to know how the whole system works, from start to finish. Now, he’s someone the younger staff can go to with questions.”
Plum joined Karpinski in 2016. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
