Karpinski Engineering Team Wins Two Engineering Excellence Awards

Two Karpinski Engineering projects competed and won recognition in the 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards sponsored by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Ohio.
Our contributions to the Cleveland Museum of Art Addition and Renovation were awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award and earned the opportunity to compete for recognition in the national ACEC Awards.
Our engineering design for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Global and North American Headquarters received an Honor Award.
Projects were judged on four criteria:
- Original or innovative application of new or existing techniques
- Perception by the public
- Social, economic, and sustainable design considerations
- Complexity
The Cleveland Museum of Art’s $330 million expansion and renovation project took 12 years to complete. Showcasing and preserving the Museum’s priceless collection placed stringent demands on the engineering design. We are proud of our team — and the entire team of architects, engineers, contractors, and Museum staff who carried this project to an impressive finish.
Goodyear’s new North American and Global Headquarters pursued energy efficiency and the leading edge of technology. The seven-story, 685,000-SF, $127-million facility is designed to achieve LEED® Silver certification. LEED design resulted in 39.1% energy consumption savings and 42.6% water savings. Built on a fast-track schedule, this project required a high level of responsiveness and flexibility from our engineering team.
The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Goodyear Headquarters add to our region’s strength and vitality. We are honored to work on projects of such value to the Northeast Ohio community.
