Business Developer - Regional Lead

We are seeking a qualified Business Development professional to grow our organization by maintaining and developing new client relationships with owners, architects, developers, and institutional leaders. This position will support the organization in building and elevating the Karpinski Engineering brand in the central and southwest Ohio regions.
As A Business Development professional you will:
- Build and elevate the Karpinski Engineering brand within the identified region and across the organization.
- Execute business development initiatives, including client relationship building, client pursuits, and new introductions for our Columbus and Cincinnati regions with a focus on healthcare, education, commercial, and public service markets.
- Identify and engage with key decision-makers, stakeholders, leaders and essential resources that significantly impact the selection and approval of projects.
- Conduct thorough research on the client’s organization, dynamics and specific needs.
- Understand our services to align with our clients’ goals. Learn the correct principals, project managers, and other directors necessary to connect with specific project and client opportunities.
- Manage the organizational responsibilities for a specific vertical market.
- Implement innovative approaches to business development strategies to expand our brand and presence in the identified markets (meet-and-greets, events, conferences, lunches, etc.).
- Strategically, bring specific project teaming opportunities to our focused vertical markets.
- Execute an organized and methodical approach to the BD strategy. Utilize the available CRM system to track progress and maintain historical efforts. Provide monthly/quarterly reports on BD progress.
- Participate in weekly marketing and BD strategy meetings.
- Assist engineers and technical colleagues in business development by guiding and training them to enhance their business development skills.
- Acquire two- four new or dormant target clients each year.
- Participate in professional organizations and attend networking events, trade shows, and conferences that align with our business development strategies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or associate degree in business, architecture, engineering, marketing or related field is required.
- Experience: minimum of 5-8 years.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and creative thinking.
- Excellent organizational skills in a team-oriented environment.
- Certifications: As appropriate for the industry are preferred.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. As a business development professional evening or weekend work will be expected at times. This effort can be aligned with our corporate flexible schedule policies.
Travel
Travel is primarily focused on the regional location of the position with occasional air travel to industry conferences and/or client meetings. Additional travel may be expected to collaborate with the Cleveland corporate HQ office.
Supervisor Reporting
This position will report directly to the Director of Business Development and indirectly to the Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer (both located in our Cleveland office). Day-to-day interactions will be with our Columbus and Cincinnati office leaders and vertical market principals.
Supervisor Responsibility
This position does not manage any staff.
