Karpinski Engineering was the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology (MEPT) consultant for an $8 million new two-story medical office building in Jackson Township, Ohio. The building is approximately 54,000 SF, and the project consists of two parts: a core and shell, and a tenant fit-out. The design for the core/shell was completed in 2009 using Revit 3D software.
The building was designed around the requirements for the tenants: an urgent care suite (“STAT Care”), a cancer center, a diagnostic suite to include MRIs and CTs, primary care suites, a cardiovascular diagnostic suite, and a community conference center.
MEPT services included are HVAC system design, heating and ventilation designed to Ohio mechanical code and ASHRAE requirements, and building system energy analysis for code compliance. The building plumbing system (sanitary and domestic cold water) was designed for connection to the tenant suites during the tenant fit-out phase and the building is fully sprinklered.
Electrical services include interior and exterior lighting design; consisting of parking lot lighting, power distribution design and circuiting, fire alarm system design, and a full building technology design. The major building equipment was designed for the core/shell package.
