Kent State University May 4 Visitors Center

The Kent State University May 4 Visitors Center uses images, artifacts, and multimedia to educate visitors about the events that led to, transpired on, and resulted from the tragedy that took place on May 4, 1970. In addition to remembering the four students who lost their lives, it was important for the University to tell a story of the cultural and political climate of that time and how the day’s events impacted our country’s history. To maintain accuracy and balanced viewpoints, scholars, veterans, consultants, community leaders, and members of the public worked with University professors and national experts to select the Center’s contents. The result is an impressive collection – powerful, informative, and commemorative – which allows visitors to reflect on the historic moment and find meaning in the loss that was experienced on that day.
