Karpinski Engineering Donates Services for 9/11 Memorial

Karpinski Engineering donated electrical and lighting design services for the Police & Fire All Patriots Memorial in Tiffin, Ohio, which commemorates victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.  The City of Tiffin received one of only 1,200 World Trade Center artifacts – a 17.5-foot steel column weighing 6,238 pounds.  After receiving the beam on August 23, 2011, a committee began fundraising efforts, and the Memorial was dedicated this year on September 11.

The 16,200-SF Memorial features cast concrete and granite slabs that are placed together in the shape of the Pentagon.  The World Trade Center steel is seated across the top of the granite and rests at a 9.11-degree angle.  The site includes a grassy mound that has a 40-inch granite pedestal – representing Flight 93, its 40 passengers and crew.  A Callery Pear tree was planted at the site, which represents the surviving tree found at ground zero.
